The short answer

If an eBay card is marked delivered but you cannot find it, verify the order address, tracking details and local delivery locations, then report the problem through the order promptly. Sellers should respond in the request with the required tracking evidence. A delivery scan matters, but neither a scan nor a complaint alone guarantees a particular case outcome.
  • Identify whether the whole parcel is missing or an item is missing inside a delivered bundle.
  • Keep carrier investigation records with the eBay request.
  • Do not close an unresolved request because someone promises to investigate later.

Check the delivery record before choosing a complaint

Open the purchase record and compare the destination with the address you intended to use. Read the carrier's delivery date and location description, then check the mailbox, parcel area, reception desk or household member who normally receives deliveries. eBay also recommends checking with a neighbor. Avoid assuming that a scan at a shipping hub is delivery to your home.

Save the tracking number and a dated view of the carrier events. If you contact the carrier, record the inquiry reference and the factual response. Do not publish your full address or another person's delivery information while asking a collecting group for advice. If the carrier confirms a misdelivery or corrects a scan, that is useful new evidence to supply through the order workflow.

Choose the problem that matches what happened

A parcel that never reached you differs from a delivered parcel containing the wrong card. A complete-set purchase missing one card is also different from one separately ordered item missing from a combined shipment. eBay's help directs incomplete sets or bundles to a return request rather than treating the entire purchase as undelivered.

Describe what you can establish, not what you suspect happened inside the seller's home or carrier depot. The following examples are fictional. Choosing the accurate route preserves a clearer record and makes it easier for the seller to answer the actual discrepancy.

The return branch has a different clock. Under eBay’s US Money Back Guarantee policy, a trading-card not-as-described return must be requested within three calendar days of the applicable estimated or actual delivery date when the seller offers no returns. When returns are offered, use the seller’s stated window. Authenticity Guarantee purchases have separate final-sale restrictions. Check the order promptly; the nonreceipt window below is not a general card-return deadline.

Open the request and preserve the clock

The buyer help page says to report nonarrival within 30 calendar days after the delivery date. From Purchases, use the item's More actions menu and the nonreceipt option. Explain the scan and checks already completed. The guide allows escalation after three business days without resolution and states a limit of 21 business days from the original request for asking eBay to step in.

Do not treat a carrier inquiry as an automatic extension of the marketplace deadline. Save the request number and the dates displayed in the case. Keep messages on the platform so both the seller and eBay can follow the history. A concise message can say that tracking shows delivery, the order address is correct and the parcel was not located after specific checks; there is no need to speculate about fraud.

Respond inside the request with usable evidence

eBay gives sellers three business days to resolve an item-not-received request. Its seller guidance calls for qualifying tracking from an integrated carrier, with shipping and delivery dates and the delivery address information. For orders totaling $750 or more, including item cost, shipping and tax, signature confirmation is part of its stated evidence requirement.

A screenshot of a shipping label is not the same as carrier tracking that establishes delivery. Upload or confirm the correct tracking in the request and explain any mismatch rather than sending only a dismissive message. If you investigate with the carrier, add useful results to the case. Choose any refund or replacement through the appropriate order controls and keep the confirmation, so a private promise does not conflict with the formal record.

Keep evidence linked to the order

  2. CarrierTracking and investigation reference.
  3. RequestMessages, evidence and response dates.

Handle new evidence or a late arrival honestly

Read the decision and its stated reason. eBay's buyer guidance permits an appeal with new information within 30 calendar days of case closure. A carrier correction or documented address mismatch is more useful than repeating the same unsupported claim. Do not close a still-unresolved request just to satisfy a promise of future help; eBay says closed requests cannot be reopened.

If the card arrives after a refund, contact the seller to arrange the appropriate next step, such as return or reimbursement. If it arrives damaged, the issue has changed and the order guidance explains how to move to the relevant return process. Record the final resolution in your inventory and stop describing the card as missing once it has been found.

Frequently asked questions

Does delivered tracking mean a refund is impossible?

It is significant evidence and can protect a seller, but the platform reviews the case and any new information. Do not assume an automatic outcome in either direction.

Should I wait for the carrier investigation before reporting?

Do not let an investigation consume the marketplace reporting window. Report promptly and add the carrier reference or findings as they become available.

What if the parcel arrived but one card from a set is missing?

Describe the incomplete bundle accurately and use the return route identified by eBay for sets or bundles. Preserve the original contents description and the cards received. Act promptly: trading-card return deadlines can be as short as three calendar days when the seller offers no returns, subject to the applicable policy and authentication restrictions.

What if the card arrives after I receive a refund?

Tell the seller and agree on return or reimbursement through a documented process. A late arrival changes the factual basis of the original missing-item report.
