The short answer

PSA’s current FAQ lists a $1.99 withdrawal fee per item, plus an additional $4.99 for items vaulted less than 90 days, plus shipment charges. These are separate components. Review each card’s vault status and the actual request total before withdrawing; the early fee is not a replacement for the regular fee.
  • Count items and early-withdrawal items separately.
  • The 90-day test concerns time vaulted, not the age of the card.
  • A shipment price is separate from the per-card withdrawal charges.

Choose the exact items and check their status

Start in My Collection on the web or PSA app, where PSA directs users to manage returns from the vault. Match the card, grade and certification number to your own inventory. A collection can contain cards you are tracking alongside cards physically held in custody; confirm that the selected item is actually vaulted and available for the intended action.

Record when each item entered the vault using the account's information. Do not substitute the grading submission date, purchase date or the date you first added a card to a collection list. If an item is already involved in a sale or another pending action, resolve its current status before assuming it can be shipped. Keep a separate list of cards you want home and cards you intend to leave available for sale.

Break the quote into three components

As reviewed September 30, PSA lists US shipping and handling at $5.99 per shipment for up to 50 items; Canada and other international destinations have different listed amounts. The regular withdrawal charge is $1.99 per card, with another $4.99 for a card held less than 90 days. The FAQ names a Power Packs early-access exception to the additional early fee.

Use the live request to confirm your own eligibility and destination rather than assuming an exception covers every purchase from a similar product. For an unusually large or mixed request, do not extrapolate a per-shipment rate beyond its stated scope. Capture the quote before submission, especially if you are combining cards with different vault dates.

Calculate a mixed-age batch without double-counting

Suppose a fictional US request contains three eligible cards in one shipment. Two have been vaulted more than 90 days and one has been vaulted for 40 days. Under the reviewed ordinary fee schedule, the calculation below totals $16.95 before any other applicable account-specific charge. It is a worked example, not a quotation for a real account.

The useful comparison is the avoidable early charge, not the entire shipment total. Waiting until the third item is no longer within the early period would remove $4.99 under these assumptions; the regular withdrawal charges and shipment charge would remain. That does not automatically make waiting the best choice if you need the card for a specific purpose.

Review the destination and confirmation as one record

Check the full shipping address and the selected item list before submitting. A saved address may be old even when the account owner has not changed. If the delivery will require your presence, choose a destination and timing you can manage. Do not assume a customer-support message after submission will redirect a parcel that has already entered fulfillment.

Save the request identifier, date, item list, charge breakdown and any displayed estimate. Those fields are more useful than a screenshot of only the final total. If the total differs from your worksheet, identify the specific line: item count, early-item count, shipping destination or another charge. Ask support to explain that difference before completing the action rather than interpreting the lower number as the correct one by default.

Schematic. Original fee-component diagram; the account quote determines the actual request.

Close the location record when the parcel arrives

A withdrawal request changes the planned location, while physical receipt changes the actual location. Track both in your inventory. Keep the vault identifier until the card is home and reconciled so you can explain any discrepancy without searching old emails. Do not mark a missing card as received simply because another card from the same request arrived.

Inspect the outer packaging, holder and certification number on arrival. If there is a problem, preserve the parcel materials and contact PSA through the request record before altering the holder or shipping anything back. Once resolved, update the location from vault to the named home box or binder. Retain the withdrawal expense with the item record if you track total collecting costs.

Frequently asked questions

Is the early-withdrawal charge $4.99 instead of $1.99?

The current FAQ lists it as an additional charge. Under the ordinary schedule, an early item incurs both components, plus its share of shipment costs.

Does the 90-day rule start when I bought the card?

The wording concerns how long an item has been vaulted. Use the vault record and the request calculation rather than assuming a purchase or grading date is the start.

Are shipping charges included in the per-card fee?

No. The FAQ lists shipping and handling separately. Destination and the number of items in a shipment affect which quoted shipment terms apply.

Should I wait until 90 days to withdraw?

Compare the avoidable early charge with your reason for needing the card now. Waiting does not remove all withdrawal and shipping costs, and the actual account quote should confirm the timing.
