The short answer

COMC charges 10% to cash out Store Credit, with additional fees for small cash-outs and mailed checks. Unused credit you purchased can instead qualify for a full refund requested within 30 days through Request a Refund. Sale proceeds and recently purchased credit are different categories; review the account’s eligible amount and payout details before confirming.
  • Identify how the credit entered the account before choosing cash-out or refund.
  • Include small-request and check fees instead of multiplying every balance by 90%.
  • Processing time, mailed delivery and money received are separate events.

Does all COMC credit qualify for a free refund?

COMC’s purchase guide says unused purchased credit can be refunded within the first 30 days through Request a Refund on the cash-out page. Credit can also come from selling cards, and the same balance can fund purchases, shipping or processing. A displayed balance alone therefore does not establish refundable purchased credit.

Build a small reconciliation with the original funding date, credit purchased, purchases or fees paid, sale proceeds received and the amount the refund screen allows. If several funding transactions overlap with sales, use the platform’s eligibility calculation or ask support; do not invent a first-in-first-out rule that the reviewed help pages do not explain.

Our suggested sequence is to decide the outcome first: buy another card, fund a pending shipment, or move money outside COMC. Then select the correct transaction. Do not request a cash-out merely because it is the first visible button when your intended action is returning eligible unused funding.

Schematic. Account credit, refundable funding and a completed payout are different records.

What fees apply when you convert credit to cash?

The domestic conversion page states a 10% cash-out fee, plus $1 in Store Credit for conversions below $250. A mailed check adds $5 in Store Credit within the United States or $15 outside it. Inspect the request’s total deductions: a small mailed-check request has more components than a larger PayPal request.

Worked comparison using hypothetical balances: a $500 PayPal cash-out at the published 10% rate leaves $450, assuming no other account adjustments. A separate $500 of entirely unused, recently purchased credit eligible for a full refund would return the $500 funding amount. The $50 difference is the modeled cash-out charge, not a reward for labeling earned proceeds a refund.

These examples intentionally avoid small-request fees and checks. For a $100 or $200 request, copy the account’s displayed credit deduction and cash amount instead of using the large-request example. The help page does not give a full calculation order for every combination of extra charges; the confirmation screen is needed for your exact total.

How long does a COMC cash-out take?

The timing page lists four business days for PayPal cash-outs and eligible PayPal refunds; weekends and holidays do not count. Mailed checks have a ten-business-day processing period, followed by an allowance of two weeks for delivery after mailing. Those are different stages, so a processing estimate is not an in-hand deadline.

For your own record, write three dates: request submitted, payment processed and funds received. If you need cash for an imminent card show, avoid promising to spend money that remains only an account balance or an unprocessed request. Leave a separate reserve for any COMC shipment or submission charges you still intend to pay.

COMC’s cancellation page says a requested cash-out cannot be cancelled. It describes rejection and return of funds for invalid payment addresses, with processing time still applying. Check the payout destination before submission; a typo is not an instant correction workflow.

What happens to tax paid when buying the credit?

COMC’s dedicated refund page says an eligible credit refund also returns the associated sales tax; cash-outs do not qualify for that sales-tax refund. This describes the platform’s transaction treatment, not a determination of your personal tax obligations.

Preserve the funding receipt, refund or cash-out confirmation and resulting payment record together. For selling analysis, retain the original card cost and other fees separately. Receiving $450 from the hypothetical cash-out does not mean you made $450 profit: the cost of the sold cards, processing and prior expenses still belong in that calculation.

Before confirming, check whether any active offer, shipment or processing charge still needs the funds. Use an amount you can remove without disrupting the collecting plan. Keeping a small working balance is a budgeting choice, not a requirement established by this article.

Frequently asked questions

Can I refund credit earned by selling cards?

The fee-free refund guidance concerns unused credit you purchased within the stated window. Earned proceeds use the cash-out rules.

Is a COMC cash-out always exactly 10% less than my balance?

No. Small conversions and mailed checks have additional published credit fees. Read the actual quote.

Can I cancel after entering the wrong payment address?

COMC says cash-outs cannot be cancelled. Its help describes a separate rejection-and-return process for invalid destinations, which still takes processing time.

Does a four-business-day estimate mean four calendar days?

No. The published processing schedule excludes weekends and holidays; check delivery adds a separate mailing period.
