The short answer

How much does card grading cost? On September 30, 2026, direct PSA Standard was $59.99 and SGC Standard was $50 per card. Fanatics Collect listed CGC grading at $11, SGC at $60, and PSA starting at $59.99. The comparison also includes $15 Arena Club Grade and Return, $20 CGC Economy, and an Advanced Grading bulk snapshot starting at $9 for a qualifying 500-card order. Add shipping, insurance, memberships, add-ons, and any vault or selling fees. A dated per-card quote is not a checkout total.

Published grading fees are dated snapshots. The complete order cost can also change with card count, declared value, shipping, insurance, taxes, and optional services.

  • A lower price can require a larger order, a lower card value, or vault storage.
  • Compare the full order total, not only the advertised price per card.
  • Advanced Grading offers strong bulk value, while PSA offers a premium direct path and broad research, vault, and selling tools.
  • Prices and turnaround estimates can change, so verify the official page before paying.

Current card grading prices by company

PSA, SGC, CGC, Fanatics Collect, and Arena Club prices were checked September 30, 2026. Advanced Grading and TAG live submission options were also rechecked September 30. These are non-identical services, so keep each quantity, value, timing, and destination rule beside the price.

PSA Standard

$59.99 per card

Maximum insured value of $1,000 and an estimated 90 to 100 business days. PSA's lower-priced Value services were temporarily paused during this review.

PSA pricing

CGC Economy and Bulk

$20 Economy or $17 Bulk Economy

Economy allowed a one-card direct submission up to $500. Bulk required 25 cards and listed a $500 maximum value per card.

CGC fees

CGC Cards through Fanatics Collect

$11 per card with no submission limit

Checked September 30: approximately 15 to 20 business days, with autograph grades included. Authentication-only prices are a different service. Verify eligibility, destination, and all custody and shipping terms in the live flow.

Fanatics Collect grading

SGC and PSA through Fanatics Collect

$60 per SGC card or PSA starting at $59.99

Checked September 30: autograph grades included and no submission-volume minimum. PSA uses tiered pricing. Verify card eligibility, declared value, custody, destination, storage, selling, withdrawal, and shipping inside the live flow.

Fanatics Collect grading

SGC Standard

$50 per card

Checked September 30, after the September 2 service update: standard-size grading up to $1,500 declared value, with a 40+ business day estimate. The former $15 quote is superseded. Return shipping is separate.

SGC pricing

TAG

Base and Standard available; limited Priority offered

TAG’s active submission screen lists Base at $39.95 with a five-card minimum and Standard at $59.95, with estimates of 60 and 45 business days from intake. Included protection is $500 and $1,000 per card respectively, not an eligibility ceiling. Standard includes the 1,000-point score.

TAG pricing

Arena Club

$14 Grade and Vault or $15 Grade and Return

Arena Club described both as flat grading rates regardless of card value. Marketplace, retrieval, shipping, and payment-related fees are separate parts of the platform workflow.

Arena Club pricing

Advanced Grading

$13 at 50 cards, $11 at 250, or $9 at 500

Advanced Grading uses volume pricing. The lowest listed rate required the largest order, making it a strong value option for qualifying bulk submissions.

Advanced pricing

What the advertised minimum costs before shipping

Multiplying the published fee by its required quantity prevents a $9 bulk price from looking like a $9 one-card order. These are grading subtotals, not checkout totals.

PSA Standard

1 card × $59.99 = $59.99 grading subtotal

The reviewed direct tier allowed one card up to a $1,000 maximum insured value. Inbound shipping, return shipping, insurance, and optional services remain separate.

PSA pricing

SGC Standard

1 card × $50 = $50 grading subtotal

One $50 Standard card plus an illustrative $20 return-shipping allowance is $70 before inbound shipping and other applicable charges. Replace the allowance with the selected live SGC return-shipping quote; item count, value and speed affect that quote.

SGC shipping fees

CGC Bulk Economy

25 cards × $17 = $425 grading subtotal

Every card must fit the reviewed $500 maximum value, and the order must reach 25 cards. Return shipping and any applicable services remain separate.

CGC fees

Advanced Grading Basic

50 cards × $13 = $650 grading subtotal

The company listed a 50-card minimum and a 36-business-day order time. It can be great value per card for a qualifying batch, but it is not a one-card service.

Advanced pricing

Advanced Grading Silver and Gold

250 × $11 = $2,750 or 500 × $9 = $4,500

The lower per-card rates require much larger orders. Advanced Grading listed 31 business days for Silver and 26 business days for Gold, beginning after the cards reach its facility.

What the total grading cost includes

Start with the service fee multiplied by the number of cards. Then add the costs created by the way the order travels to the grading company and back to you. A one-card order can have a higher effective cost per card because the same package and return charges are spread across only one item.

A connected vault route can replace return shipping with storage and later withdrawal costs. That can be convenient when you plan to keep or sell the card on the same platform, but it is a different outcome from having the slab returned immediately.

Grading fee
The published price for the selected service tier, multiplied by the number of eligible cards.
Inbound shipping and insurance
What you pay to package, document, insure, and send the cards to the correct company address.
Return shipping
The company's charge to send completed cards back, often based on quantity, speed, and insured value.
Membership or minimum order
Some lower fees require a paid membership or a minimum number of cards. Treat the full requirement as part of the decision.
Optional and connected fees
Autograph authentication, special labels, imaging, vault withdrawal, selling, retrieval, and marketplace services can add separate costs.

When the grading cost makes sense

Grading can make sense for authentication, protection, collection organization, a registry, or a selling workflow even when the expected financial gain is uncertain. If resale is the goal, compare the full submission cost with completed sales for the exact card in several realistic grades.

Do not build the decision around a perfect grade. A card can look clean in a sleeve and still have centering, edge, corner, print, or surface issues under direct light. Use a range of possible outcomes and decide whether the order still works if the result is lower than hoped.

Calculate your real grading cost

Use the same order math for every company so a low headline price does not hide a requirement or a later fee.

  1. Identify the exact card and card type

Record the year, product, set, card number, variation, size, thickness, autograph, and memorabilia details before checking eligibility.

  2. Choose a realistic declared value

Use completed sales for the exact card and plausible grade range. Follow each company's current declared-value definition.

  3. Match the quantity and service rules

Confirm the minimum order, maximum value, card eligibility, estimated timing, and whether the card returns home or goes to a vault.

  4. Add every order-level cost

Include inbound shipping, insurance, return shipping, membership, handling, and any optional service you actually plan to use.

  5. Divide by the number of cards

The effective cost per card is the complete order total divided by the number of cards, not just the advertised grading fee.

  6. Verify the live page before checkout

Prices, capacity, turnaround estimates, value limits, and promotions can change after this review date.

What the price cannot predict

  • A grading fee does not predict the grade the card will receive.
  • A lower fee does not guarantee a higher profit, faster sale, or stronger buyer demand.
  • A turnaround estimate is not a guaranteed completion or delivery date.
  • A price comparison is incomplete until the exact card, value, quantity, and final destination match the service rules.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to get one card graded?

On September 30, 2026, direct examples were $15 Arena Club Grade and Return, $20 CGC Economy, $50 SGC Standard, and $59.99 PSA Standard. Fanatics Collect separately listed CGC at $11, SGC at $60, and PSA starting at $59.99 without submission-volume minimums. Shipping, insurance, custody, and other route fees can raise the total.

What is the cheapest way to grade sports cards?

The lowest published price in this comparison was Advanced Grading at $9 per card, but it required 500 cards. For smaller orders, compare direct single-card and lower-minimum services by total order cost, eligibility, and what happens after grading.

Why does PSA grading cost more?

PSA's available Standard service was a premium-priced route during this review. It connects grading with certification lookup, population data, collection tools, PSA Vault access, partner offers, and eBay selling. Compare those features with your actual goal rather than price alone.

Does the grading price include shipping?

Usually the headline grading fee does not include every shipping and insurance cost. Check inbound shipping, return shipping, declared-value coverage, handling, and any vault withdrawal or retrieval fees.

Is card grading worth the cost?

It can be worthwhile for authentication, protection, organization, or a selling workflow. For a resale decision, compare the full order cost with completed sales for the exact card across realistic grade outcomes.
