Which Inception rookie autograph family are you buying?
The official PDF separates signature categories from autograph-relic categories. Start there when comparing singles. A broad search for an Inception rookie auto can return several different designs, memorabilia formats and parallel versions that do not belong in one price comparison.
For Fernando Mendoza, the checklist includes ordinary rookie #151 as well as RA-FM, RAV-FM, PPA-FM and RJRA-FM. This selected map illustrates the distinction; it is not a claim that every family has an identical parallel run or insertion rate.
Place Inception within Mendoza’s broader card timeline
| Entry | Family | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| 151 | Rookie card | Base identity and parallel |
| RA-FM | Rookie Autographs | Signature and full card code |
| RAV-FM | Rookie Autograph Variations | Variation identity |
| PPA-FM | Provenance Patch Autographs | Patch and certification wording |
| RJRA-FM | Rookie Jumbo Relic Autographs | Jumbo relic and certification wording |
Worked example: Carson Beck is not every CB card
RA-CB is Carson Beck in Rookie Autographs. In Provenance Patch Autographs, PPA-CB is Chris Bell and PPA-CBK is Carson Beck. A suffix-based spreadsheet formula would attach the wrong player to one of those patch cards.
To prevent that mistake, use year, product and complete code together as the lookup key. Keep a second field for the manufacturer’s full player name. If a seller gives an abbreviated title, compare the photograph with both fields before importing the listing into a want list or recording it as a sale comparable.
Try the method on a hypothetical Beck collection: save the signature-only entry and the patch entry as separate targets. Filling one target does not complete the other. If you later acquire a numbered parallel of either card, attach the parallel name and stamped denominator to that exact family rather than creating a generic “Beck numbered auto” bucket.

Schematic. Never use a player-initial suffix as the only identifier.
Are the patches game-used, and how do books differ?
Topps Ripped’s October 2 collector guide specifically describes Rookie Jumbo Relic Autographs as pairing a signature with player-worn memorabilia. That supports player-worn wording for the described family. It does not identify a game, prove game use or establish the origin of every other relic family in the release.
Read the statement on the back of the actual card. A colorful patch or the word Provenance in a set name is not a substitute for the precise certification. When listing or trading a card, carry over only the provenance the manufacturer actually states for that card.
The checklist also has a separate Dual Rookie Relic Autographed Book section. DRRA-MWJ lists Mike Washington Jr. and Mendoza together. That is a shared booklet identity, not two independently numbered singles or a normal single-panel dual autograph.
Before buying a booklet, request photographs of the outside, inside and hinge area. Plan storage around its actual open or closed dimensions and thickness. A holder that fits an ordinary Inception card may not fit a book, and forcing it closed can damage the hinge.
What is confirmed about release and new parallels?
The current Topps landing page says November 6. It introduces Immersion Autographs and Charged Particles as new football autograph content. That announcement is a useful starting point, but it is not confirmation that a particular seller has a physical card or a box ready to ship.
The October 2 Ripped collector guide identifies new base parallels Gold Electricity numbered to 50 and Hot Pink numbered to 35. Keep “base” attached to that statement. Do not copy those serial limits onto every autograph or relic family merely because a color looks similar.
For a buying decision, establish the target family first, then the exact parallel and condition. This article does not assign a hit rate or a current resale value because the reviewed sources do not supply that evidence for the individual targets. A checklist entry proves intended inclusion, not the chance of receiving that player in your box.
Frequently asked questions
Does every Inception rookie card have a signature?
No. The checklist separates ordinary rookies from autograph families. A product known for autographs still requires identification of the particular card.
Can I use CB as the lookup key for Carson Beck?
No. The full prefix matters, and the reviewed patch checklist assigns that short suffix to a different player. Use product, full code and player together.
Does player-worn mean game-used?
No. It does not by itself establish use in a game. Read the precise statement on the card and avoid expanding its meaning in a listing.
Is an RAV card just another copy of the RA card?
The official checklist gives Rookie Autograph Variations their own family. Preserve that distinction and verify the physical version instead of merging the two entries.
Do the new base parallel serial limits apply to autograph cards?
Not automatically. Check the exact family and the number stamped on the card; sharing a color name is insufficient evidence.
