The short answer

2026 Topps Holiday Football has separate paper, Chrome, back-variation and Holiday Spirit checklist sections. Match the player and section as well as the number: the PDF even assigns different subjects to paper and Chrome #40. Fernando Mendoza is rookie #151, but he is not listed in the Rookie Holiday Spirit group. Topps’ current U.S. announcement says October 23 at 1 p.m. Eastern / 10 a.m. Pacific.
  • Read both sides before calling a festive card a particular variation.
  • Paper and Chrome entries are separate checklist records, even when numbers match.
  • A named rookie appearing elsewhere does not prove inclusion in every variation.

Which Holiday Football version do you have?

Start with a front and back photograph, then record the printed player, number and material. Look up the exact section in the linked football PDF. A seller’s Holiday SP description is too broad to distinguish a different image, a reverse treatment or a Chrome counterpart.

The launch page describes Dear Santa as an autograph relic family and Rookie Holiday Spirit as a flannel-themed short print. Those descriptions help identify the intended category. They do not establish a production quantity or guarantee that a particular box contains one.

Does Mendoza #151 have a Rookie Holiday Spirit card?

The PDF places Mendoza #151 in the ordinary rookie, rookie Chrome and rookie back-variation sections. Its separate Rookie Holiday Spirit group lists ten other entries, including Kenyon Sadiq #188, Arvell Reese #196 and Caleb Downs #199. Do not add a Mendoza Spirit slot solely because he headlines the overall release.

For a Mendoza collection, create separate provisional rows for the documented versions. Mark a row owned only after the photographs match that version. A purchase labeled #151 SP still needs clarification about the front, back and material; a shared number is not sufficient evidence.

This is a selected identification example, not a claim that we have cataloged every parallel or autograph involving Mendoza. Preserve the full product name when comparing his other 2026 cards: Holiday #151 and Chrome Football #351 belong to different sets.

Why paper #40 and Chrome #40 cannot share one inventory row

On PDF page 1, paper #40 is Woody Marks. On page 5, the Chrome section assigns #40 to Danielle Hunter. Both entries carry Houston Texans as the checklist team. Record the difference as printed; we have not assumed it is an error or silently replaced either name.

Imagine buying a small Texans lot to complete a paper set. A Chrome Hunter #40 would not fill the paper Marks #40 slot, even if the seller’s spreadsheet reports the number as present. Ask for the actual card and keep each material in its own column or sheet.

A good record includes product, subject, section, number, parallel, condition and the source-review date. That structure remains useful if Topps later revises a row: you can update the source note without losing the identity of the physical card you own.

Schematic. The number is one field, not the entire card identity.

Release timing and what a Mega Box promises

The current U.S. landing page announces October 23 at 1 p.m. Eastern. The Mega case listing separately identifies October 23 as the release day and describes ten packs of ten cards per box. Its preorder wording says delivery by release day is an aim, not a guarantee.

An older Topps brand-history FAQ still says September 28. Use the current product announcement for the planned release and preserve your own order’s shipping terms. This date difference does not establish that a particular retailer shipped early or that inventory remains available.

Ten packs of ten is 100 cards, but it does not mean 100 distinct base numbers. Decide whether you want a sealed opening, a paper set or one exact variation before comparing offers. For a specific missing slot, a photograph of the single can answer an identification question that a sealed box cannot.

Frequently asked questions

When does 2026 Topps Holiday Football release?

The current U.S. Topps product announcement, checked October 20, lists October 23 at 1 p.m. Eastern / 10 a.m. Pacific. Older brand-history copy still shows September 28; use the current product page and your order’s fulfillment terms.

What number is Fernando Mendoza in Holiday Football?

He is #151 in the ordinary rookie, rookie Chrome and rookie back-variation sections. Identify the section before treating two #151 cards as duplicates.

Is Mendoza in the Rookie Holiday Spirit checklist?

He is not listed in that ten-entry section of the linked PDF reviewed October 20. His appearance elsewhere in the product does not establish a Spirit variation.

Are paper and Chrome Holiday Football checklists identical?

Do not assume so. The official PDF assigns paper #40 to Woody Marks and Chrome #40 to Danielle Hunter. Match the actual player and material.

Does every Mega Box contain an autograph?

The cited Mega listing does not promise an autograph in every box. A product containing autograph cards is different from a box-level autograph guarantee.
